Muertos Fest Announces Entertainment Lineup for Free October Festival at Hemisfair

San Antonio – Mexican-American rock band Los Lobos from Los Angeles have been announced as the headliners for the free Dia de los Muertos festival in downtown San Antonio this October.

Muertos Fest, San Antonio’s largest Dia de los Muertos festival, celebrates its 10th anniversary on October 29-30 at Hemisfair.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Muertos Fest. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.

According to a press release, this year’s new song is the first-ever unique combination of a drum line and an operatic singer, created by Nathan Felix, a Mexican-American composer known for his immersive operas and experimental films.

Broadcast at KSAT 12 and nationwide

This year marks the first year that Muertos Fest will be broadcast nationwide.

KSAT12 will be onsite on Saturday, October 29th to record the primetime special, which will air on Sunday, October 30th from 8:00pm to 10:00pm on KSAT12, KSAT.com, and KSAT+.

The broadcast will be hosted by KSAT12’s Alicia Barrera and Stefania Jimenez.

In addition to live music, there is original artwork, dance, live poetry, drum and puppet processions, and the largest public altar exhibition in San Antonio.

There are four stages of live music, 80 altars honoring local families and deceased loved ones, and special events for children, artists, and families.

Children’s stage performers, rolling disco, and workshop schedule will be announced at a later date.

“As in previous years, the heart of Muertos Fest remains a community altar. Ofrendas, pays tribute to those who died,” Mendiola added. “This year, a record 80 altars will grace the Hemisfair grounds. Muertos Her Fest is truly a San Antonio tradition.”

Festival hours are Saturday, October 29th from 10am to 11pm and Sunday, October 30th from noon to 9pm.

The entrance to the festival is near the intersection of Nueva and Alamo streets.
