Saginaw Area Fall Sports Highlights: St. Louis Wins First Women's Golf Regional Title

St. Louis won its first women’s golf regional title on Thursday, winning the Division 4 title at Mount Pleasant Country Club and earning a spot in the Division 4 state competition.

St. Louis finished with 413, beating second-place Shepard with 421.

Chippewa Hills sophomore Madison Allen earned medalist honors with 84. Natalie Hoyt put St. Louis on 95 for her third place, and Emma Worthy on 101 she finished seventh. Josie Schrott added 103 with Daniel Terren. Finished with 114.

Shepherd was led by senior Grace Bohannon who finished 6th in the 100.

The Division 4 competition will be held October 14-15 at the Meadows Course at Grand Valley State University.

volleyball

  • After dropping the first game to Michigan Lutheran Theological Seminary, Millington won TVC 10 3-1, 21-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-18. J’Lynn Aguirre led Millington with 15 digs, 12 kills and 6 aces, while Claire Murray added 18 assists, 6 kills and 5 aces. Kendall Payne had 17 digs and 13 kills, while Kayla Riley had 17 assists and 13 digs. Chloe Basner led her Millington with seven aces.
  • Midland High won 3-1 over Flint Carman Ainsworth 25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19. Jenna Rekeweg led the Chemics with 15 assists, 8 kills, 9 digs and 4 aces, while Olivia McMath she had 14 assists, 10 digs and 4 kills. Grace Schloop she led the defense with 22 digs. Aly Herbert she finished with nine aces.
  • The Midland Dow lost 3-0 to Grand Blanc in the Saginaw Valley League, falling to 7-2 16-25, 20-25, 19-25. Taryn Williams led the Chargers with 16 digs and eight kills, while Alex Price added 16 assists and five kills. Luci Fabiano scored 26 digs and Delaney Belding scored 16 digs in the Dow.

Football

  • Brock Creek finished the regular season with a 12-3-1 record after tying Ogemor Heights 1-1. Ogemor Heights led 1–0 at halftime before Brock Creek answered a goal by Logan Corson from an assist by Jason Nelson. Tyler Frankland recorded his seven saves in the Lancers’ goal heading into the district competition at Freeland.
  • Ithaca and Standish-Sterling faced off in a TVC 10 matchup to a 2-2 draw. Amarius Arago scored both goals for the Yellow Jackets and Brady Paradise got the assist. Keegan Henderson made 12 saves on goal.
  • Midland High and Davison ended in a 2-2 draw in an SVL football showdown. Davison led 2–0 before Midland rallied in the second half. Josh Thurlow scored the Chemix and John Jenkins scored the equalizing goal for Midland. Midland have a record of 6-2-2 in the league and are 11-4-2 overall.

boys cross country

  • Millington’s Tyler Roode set a personal record of 19:38 to lead the Cardinals at the Birch Run Fall Invitational. Birch Run finished 18th as a team.
