Why Uplift Education is adding mental health breaks to school calendars this year

Dallas, Texas / ACCESSWIRE / October 7, 2022 / October is often referred to as Rocktober in educational circles due to the long run of schools leading up to the holiday season. During this period, teachers and students often begin to feel the early signs of burnout and become overwhelmed. Last year, Uplift Education took a proactive approach from staff and families to add a fall break to give teachers an opportunity to rest and refresh before entering the second quarter of the school year. This staff and student vacation period is intended to remain dedicated to the network’s commitment to prioritizing student and staff well-being. How the new fall break, added to school calendars this year, addresses the strain placed on schools over the past two years and calls for school networks to place greater emphasis on mental health support and social-emotional learning. helps you recognize what you are doing.

Uplift Education is the first company to open its doors to over 22,000 students for the 2022-23 school year

“We had a lot of conversations over the academic calendar last year. In particular, one of the requests shared with us in our survey of parents was that we consider the fall holidays as part of this conversation. It was,” said Washington, President of Dr. Uplift.

It is widely known that there is a relationship between academic performance and well-being. The healthier you are, the better your academic performance.

The Uplift school year is off to a strong start for over 23,000 students. The network enjoys seeing their students excited to learn and deeply engaged in their studies every day. “Students have grown tremendously academically in the last 10 weeks. The network hopes they will meet or exceed grade-level expectations at the end of the school year and save the country from the learning losses that have hit everyone during the pandemic. I look forward to getting it back,” said Dr. Washington.

Uplift deliberately prioritizes student and teacher well-being. They also hear overwhelmingly from staff that they need more opportunities to refuel and plan during the school year to meet the growing demand as teachers.

Students take a full week off, but Uplift teachers and staff return to campus after a three-day break to spend two days training and planning before returning the following week. Uplift expects time for well-deserved rest, renewal, and planning to leave teachers ready to revitalize the second quarter of learning with positive and impactful notes. We are deeply grateful for the partnership and commitment of our staff, students, families and communities to Uplift Education.
